The Benefit of Being a Sinner

In Mark 2:13–17, Jesus calls Levi, a despised tax collector, to follow Him—demonstrating that His mission is to redeem the unlikely and the unworthy. When criticized for dining with “sinners,” Jesus declares that He came not for the righteous, but for sinners. The benefit of being a sinner is not found in sin itself, but in recognizing one’s need for mercy. Those who know they are spiritually sick are the very ones Jesus came to heal. This passage reminds us that grace begins where self-righteousness ends.
