The Divine Forgiveness of Jesus

Jun 8, 2025    Kevin Treacy

In Mark 2:1–12, Jesus reveals His divine authority not only to heal the body but to forgive sin. When a paralytic is brought to Him, Jesus first declares, “Your sins are forgiven”—a shocking statement that provokes the scribes’ silent accusations of blasphemy. To prove His authority as the Son of Man, Jesus then heals the man physically. This moment declares that forgiveness is not a ritual or temple act—it is a divine prerogative. The healing affirms that Jesus has power over both the physical and spiritual realms, offering complete restoration through divine mercy.
