Painfully Practical Christianity

Romans 12:14–18 presents a profoundly practical picture of Christian love that reflects the very heart of Christ: believers are called to bless those who persecute them rather than retaliate, to enter into the emotional lives of others by rejoicing with their joys and weeping in their sorrows, to walk in humility instead of pride by associating with the lowly and rejecting self-exaltation, to refuse all forms of personal revenge by entrusting justice to God, and to pursue peace with everyone as far as it depends on them. This passage shows that genuine Christianity is unmistakably supernatural—it does not mirror the behavior it receives, but mirrors Christ Himself, responding to hostility with grace, comparison with compassion, pride with humility, evil with integrity, and conflict with a sincere pursuit of peace.
